Kitsap County has so many amazing parks. We live in such a beautiful corner of the world. Did you know that the Kitsap Peninsula has thousands of acres of forested lands, open space, and wildlife habitat to enjoy all year long?

As the days get longer and the temperatures get warmer, it’s safe to say summer is getting closer. Add these parks to your list when you need to get out of the house for a bit.

Whether you’re looking for a beach park or a park with a fantastic playground, there’s plenty for all. Here are 16 of Kitsap County’s best parks.

#1. Clayton Playground

Also known as Central Park, Clayton Playground is named after Vietnam Veteran, Michael Clayton. It’s located in a residential area in downtown Port Orchard and has a brand new playground. Have lunch in their covered picnic area. Enjoy a game of basketball or field game. A great park to let the little ones burn energy.

#2. Lions Park

Looking for a park that has it all? Look no further than Lions Park in Bremerton. There are four well-maintained tennis courts and two baseball fields. Not to mention a basektball court and a playground that even has a zipline. The perimeter of the park has a paved path perfect for walking, running, rollerblading, or whatever else you have in mind. Park benches and tables are all over the park making it easy to have an afternoon picnic or a relaxing place to sit and enjoy the scenery.

Come and enjoy this majestic park. That has it all. From 4 well maintained tennis courts to two beautiful baseball fields, a basketball court, and a good-sized playground that has a zipline. The perimeter of the park is perfectly paved. For walking, jogging, roller blading, and long boarding. There are plenty of park benches and tables to have a picnic or just take the scenery in.

#3. Horseshoe Lake County Park

Gather the family, pack up a picnic, and head to this quiet tucked-away park in Port Orchard. Horseshoe Lake County park sits by a large lake with plenty of barbecues, picnic tables, volleyball courts, playground, and walking trails for all to enjoy. In the warm months enjoy swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing on the lake. Don’t forget to bring your four-legged friend to this dog-friendly park.

#4. Anderson Point Park

Take a half-mile walk on a gravel path down to the beautiful waterfront. The path travels through a small forest with plenty of trees and wildlife to view. If you’ve been to any park in the Puget Sound, you know how rare it is to have sand. Anderson Point Park beach has sand so the kids can play for hours building sandcastles, digging moats, or making sand pies. Take in the views of Vashon Island or watch the boats and ferries sail by.

#5. Forest Ridge Park

Forest Ridge Park offers a little escape from the busyness of life. This 27-acre park has plenty of trails for walking or running, a small playground for the kids, and lots of forests and wildlife. Play a riveting game of horseshoe, or have a quiet picnic. Bring your own hammock and enjoy a nap in nature.

#6. Evergreen Rotary Park

Evergreen Rotary Park in Bremerton has a little something for everyone. A sidewalk wraps around the entire park, with plenty of little benches to sit on along the way. This park comes with a playground, basketball court, volleyball court, picnic table area, and lots of grass for field games or a quiet nap. Have a boat? Perfect. There’s a boat launch for easy water access.

#7. Silverdale Waterfront Park

Some might say this is Kitsap County’s premier park. Check it out and you can decide for yourself. Silverdale Waterfront Park covers two acres with saltwater access, a fun playground, as well as covered picnic tables and a gazebo. Play at the park, run in the grass or take a stroll along the waterfront.

South Kitsap Regional Park is a 209-acre park filled with lots of hiking trails, sports fields, play structures, a picnic area, and even has a skate park. #9. Island Lake County Park

Island Lake County Park’s perfect for family and friends to gather. Feed the ducks, walk the trails, head to the waterfront, and even do some fishing. They even offer life vests. The park has a community center available for your next private event. Spend the afternoon or the day enjoying the quiet trails and serene lakefront.

#10. A Quiet Place Park

This trail delivers with its namesake. It’s for sure a quiet place. The trails go deep into the forest and loop around the edge of the park. Take in the beautiful views of the Puget Sound, Cascade Mountains, and Mount Rainier as you stroll along the path. Experience the quiet at A Quiet Place Park in Kingston.

#11. Blueberry Park

Blueberry Park in Bremerton is more than just a playground for the kids. Spend time in the garden learning about plants, flowers, and other vegetation. Take a walk or jog on their path that surrounds the entire park. Kids can run in their large open fields, or play on their wooden structure.

#12. Kitsap Memorial Park

Kitsap Memorial Park is located on the Hood canal. A perfect family-friendly park with a boat-themed play structure. Love a good slide? This park’s got you covered. Not only does it have multiple slides, but a climbing structure and swings.

  • Maybe you’ll get lucky and have the chance to crash a wedding. This is a popular wedding venue in the area.

#13. Village Green Park

Village Green Park is part of the Village Green Community Center in Kingston. A great park for younger kids with swings, a playground with slides, and has a rope and climbing structure. Grab a ball or frisbee and head out to the fields for some fun. If you’re into skateboarding, the Billy Johnson Skatepark is nearby.

#14. Suquamish Shores Natural Play Area

This is one of Kitsap County’s newest parks and it’s not one to be missed. Suquamish Shores Natural Play area has a nature-theme playground and pays homage to the Suquamish Tribe. The park has a pod of orcas to climb on, a rope bridge to cross, a basket to spin in, and slides to soar down. There’s even a large boulder with Tribal art. Pack a picnic lunch, and spend the day learning about the Suquamish Tribe.

  • From the park you can easily access Chief Seattle’s gravesite, the Suquamish Museum, the Suquamish Veterans Memorials, as well as the House of Awakened Culture.

#15. KidsUp! Playground

I’m sure you’ve been to KidsUp! Playground in Battle Point Park on Bainbridge Island. Have you been since they’ve done a complete renovation? The popular wooden playground was originally built in 2001. The remodel is a custom-built ferry that is 47-feet long. Orcas surround the ferry, and there’s even a look out pier and beach suitable for digging.

#16. Kitsap Kids Playground/Castle Park

While this might not actually be considered a park, it needs to be added to this list simply because of its amazing playground. Castle Park is just that-a park with a castle straight out of Medieval times. Kids can run through the castle and find hidden boats, tic-tac-toe boards, and this park even has musical instruments. Let your imagination flow as you step back in time in this Castle Playground.
