It’s time to give another shout-out to a local business. This week we’re talking all about El Balcon. If you haven’t been, put it on your calendar this week and head over to this family-owned restaurant in Bremerton.
This restaurant has been on my list of places to try for months, and I finally made it there this last week. I can now understand what all the hype is about. This quaint restaurant in downtown Bremerton has been serving up Mexican and Salvadoran food for almost a decade.
What started as a sidewalk stand turned into a small storefront eatery until it became what it is today. A large indoor/outdoor space in front of the Bremerton Ferry. You’ll find there’s usually a line, but trust me. It’s well worth the wait when you get your food.
While El Balcon serves a few Mexican dishes, it’s the Salvadoran food that’s the star of the menu. Some people might say you’re doing yourself a disservice if you come here and don’t try any Salvadoran food. Try their handmade pupusa and pastelitos or garlic shrimp tacos. And if you’re really hungry, their large carne asada burrito is sure to fill you up.
